Meet Ali and hear about how his passion for Lebanese food has led to 20 years of Open Sesame in Belmont Shore: https://www.youtube.com/embed/bFmT1VyNO_4
For those in Long Beach looking for an authentic Lebanese experience, look to Belmont Shore and Open Sesame. Opened in 1999, their 20th anniversary is in August, Open Sesame was brought to Belmont because Ali felt the Lebanese food in the area wasn’t up to snuff.
Starting with what is now the main, center room, over the years Open Sesame has grown constantly in order to better serve the Long Beach community. Their corner spot was added when the restaurant needed more space but none of the adjacent stores were available. Now that is open on weekends and available to reserve for private events during the week.
At one point Alie remarked that after some of his trips back to Lebanon the first thing he wants to do is eat at Open Sesame because the “food is better than back home”.
Open Sesame may have been started out of Ali’s love for cooking at home and the desire to find an authentic Lebanese restaurant, but over the last 20 years, they have set themselves apart as not only and authentic spot, but quite possibly the best in town.
Visit Open Sesame during Long Beach Restaurant Week, August 3rd-11th and help make their 20th anniversary truly special!
