Jim Cascone, 63, has been a butcher all his life. These days he is the owner/operator of Huntington Meats located in downtown LA. As the owner of his own butcher shop, Cascone feels it is important to give back.
To do so Cascone and his crew have been traveling to homeless shelters and rescue missions throughout LA County to cook meals for the less fortunate. As part of his tour, Cascone brought the Huntington Meats team to the Long Beach Rescue Mission.

Helping Cascone prepare the meals is the father and son duo of John and Jon Escobedo. Both of them are career butchers and Jim says that they are the real stars at Huntington Meats.
Over the course of three hours and two sittings, Huntington and the Rescue Mission fed around 170 people. Huntington prepared some of their famous sausages.

The first sitting is populated by volunteers and members of the Rescue Mission’s programs, while the second is open to members of the community who need a good meal.
Many of the volunteers that work for the rescue mission are former members of their program. Chaplin Robert Probst says that as Executive Director of the Long Beach Rescue Mission he is proud to give people in need a warm meal, and possibly a second chance.
